Common questions
- Do I need an account?
- Yes. You sign in with your email address and a magic link — there is no password. A profile is created for you automatically, with a username based on the first part of your email; you can change your display name and emoji from the Profile tab at any time.
- How does the daily challenge work?
- Every day the app rolls one workout and one target from the 45-exercise library — the same challenge for everyone in the crew — and randomly matches two players head to head. Anyone can take it on. Log your reps, tap "I did it" to bank the honor points, or tap out and forfeit half of them. The daily locks at midnight UTC.
- What are coins and honor points? Is there real money involved?
- No. Coins and honor points are the same thing: a score that goes up when you complete a challenge and down when you tap out. They have no cash value, cannot be bought, cannot be cashed out or exchanged for anything, and are never connected to real money. There are no in-app purchases and no wagering of any kind — only bragging rights.
- What happens when I call someone out?
- You pick a friend, pick a workout (or roll one at random), set the target with the slider, add a line of trash talk, and send it. Your friend has two days to accept or duck it. Both of you can log a result on that call-out; nobody else can. Ducking or tapping out costs half the honor points on the line and earns a badge of shame.
- How do streaks work?
- Streaks count days, not results. Your first completed challenge of a day (UTC) extends the streak; a second win the same day banks its points but does not bump the streak again. Tapping out or ducking resets the streak to zero. A three-day streak earns a bonus of 10 points per win; seven days earns 25.
- What can other people see?
- Your display name, emoji, username, honor points, current and best streak, badges (including badges of shame), your logged results, and any call-outs and trash talk you send. The leaderboard, profiles and challenge share links are readable by anyone with the link, not just signed-in crew members, so keep trash talk to things you would say in the group chat.
- Why doesn't the iOS app send notifications?
- This version of the iOS app does not request notification permission and sends no push notifications. Call-out alerts are currently available only in the web version at gymappfortheboys.vercel.app, where you can turn them on from the Profile tab.
- How do I delete my account?
- Email us from the address you signed up with and ask for deletion. There is no in-app delete button yet. We delete the account within a few days, which permanently removes your profile, results, points history, badges, call-outs and any notification subscriptions — there is no recovery.
The workouts are general fitness challenges between friends, not medical advice. Consult a qualified health professional before starting any training program.
